You might feel like you are the only one who is truly unhappy with your body size, but we can guarantee that more people share your thoughts than you know. One of the best ways to change your body shape and size is to lose weight. Unfortunately, this is rarely simple and straightforward, and many people battle their weight demons over and over again before finally reaching a number on the scales that they can live with. Unfortunately, reaching your ideal weight doesn’t necessarily mean that your body is going to look quite how you want it to. Even if you do plenty of exercises to try and tone up as you go, many people, especially those that have lost considerable amounts of weight, are left with overlarge areas of loose, sagging skin and stubborn fat that just refuses to budge. This can be very frustrating, particularly if you have worked hard to lose the excess weight. However, you don’t need to be despondent. There are some cosmetic surgery treatments which can reduce your body size and address those areas of your appearance that are affecting your confidence and self-esteem. It is important to note that these procedures are not replacements for weight loss. Instead, they should be used once you reach your desired weight to help you reduce your body size and remove excess fat and skin so that your silhouette is much smoother, tighter and more youthful.

Liposuction

Liposuction is a fairly well-known form of cosmetic surgery. It is minimally-invasive compared to many other options since the procedure is performed through a series of very small incisions rather than making a larger wound. Liposuction can be performed on virtually any area of the body where there is an excess amount of fat. First, saline solution is injected into the target area to help break down the fat cells and make them easier to remove. Then a long, thin and hollow cannula is inserted into your body at the desired places in order to suck out the now-loosened fat calls. Your surgeon will need to pass the cannula backward and forwards in a motion akin to vacuuming your carpets, as this further breaks down the fat cells so that they can be effectively removed. They are sucked into the cannula and through a tube into a container where they can be disposed of.

Tummy Tuck

Also known as abdominoplasty, a tummy tuck is an ideal solution for reducing the size of and reshaping your abdomen so that it is smoother, flatter and appears much more toned.

A tummy tuck is a fairly major procedure that can take anywhere between two and four hours depending on how much fat and skin is being removed. The incision is usually made along the bikini line, before your surgeon separates the stomach muscles from the overlying fat and skin. Muscles that have been loose and lax will be repaired and tightened, before the skin is placed back over your abdomen and pulled tight so that any excess can be cut away and discarded. You may need to have your belly button detached and placed higher on your abdomen to complete your new look.

Arm & Thigh Contouring

As we know, some areas of the body seem to be more efficient and holding onto stubborn pockets of fat than others. The arms and thighs are often overlooked, but when it comes to weight loss, they are easily affected by excess fat that just doesn’t seem to shift no matter what exercises you try. Heavy, sagging skin can hang and have both physical and emotional repercussions. You may find that you can’t wear the clothes that you would like to, feeling that you need to cover your upper arms or stick to longer skirts or cropped trousers.

Fortunately, you don’t need to live with the effects of over-sized, sagging upper arms and thighs. There are several different options that can reduce the size and improve the appearance of these areas. Surgery on the upper arm, known as a Brachioplasty, usually involves removing excess skin and fat in order to create tighter, firmer arms. Thigh contouring, also called thighplasty, is similar and involves lifting and tightening underlying tissue as well as removing the extra skin and fat. Liposuction may also be used in both cases to help reduce the fat volume and create smoother, more youthful contours.
